Welcome

Alex Russell is a lecturer, research and designer. He is programme leader for the Textile Design for Fashion programme and Senior Lecturer on Textiles in Practice at Manchester School of Art. His research, currently a PhD, includes the Repeatless project, which explores generative design and digital fabric printing. He also does a cartoon blog called HalfDropped and works as a freelance designer for the Amsterstampa studio. Hello there!

Alex's design work includes a wide range of printed textile design, surface pattern, graphics, illustration and other creative services for fashion / apparel, interiors / home furnishing / lifestyle and editorial / publishing. News

Books:
The Fundamentals of Printed Textile Design, published by AVA Academia is now available on Amazon. I've also co-written a chapter in Textile Design: Principles, Advances and Applications and one of my designs (CalyxRmx) appears to be gracing the cover.

Research:
Repeatless, an investigation of using generative design to explore the possibilities of digital fabric printing, is now a long term research project - a PhD.

Cartoons (well, drawings with text):
Swing over to HalfDropped for daily illustrations that are either funny ha ha, funny peculiar or funny boo hoo.
Design:
As a result of my lecturing and research activity, the design work I do for the forseeable future will be exclusively available from the Amsterstampa studio.
